Can we talk about my frustration with the whole health care debate? First, I got caught up in a facebook stream the night the President was doing the State of the Union.
People were actually making comments that those who dont' have insurance are too lazy to get jobs. I am sorry, but folks, it ain't that easy to get a job these days. I mean sure, we can all go work at a Walmart of McDonald's or something and nothing wrong with that at all. However, that all depends on how much money you need to live and how many teenagers are sucking the bucks out of your wallet on a daily basis. When my son and I are applying for jobs that pay the same hourly wage, there is something wrong with that picture. Folks, it just isn't so easy to pay a mortgage, and all the other things that come along with home ownership and life in general on $9 per hour.
And if for some reason a person has been out of the work force for awhile, well guess what? People with tons of experience are getting laid off, so why would anyone hire someone who has been working a home business or in a different field for awhile. And many jobs out there are only part time, they don't offer health benefits.
Okay, so my real frustration, besides all that is that some people are so against a public option and think that country is going to go bankrupt if we do such a thing, their premiums might go up, etc etc. Well HELLO people!! premiums are going up 25-39% right now. You guys are already paying for those that don't have insurance, just noone is coming out and saying it. There needs to be an OPTION for those who cannot afford $600 per month or more for single insurance, and those who have small businesses and cannot afford these skyrocketing costs.
okay, i feel better now.. more rants later..
