Before the music-infused summer sounds reach patrons at Ravinia this year, a new and dramatic path leading up to the festival gates will first greet concertgoers.

The dual train underpass walkways, which provide safer and more efficient access from the parking lots, is the most prominent modification of the historic concert venue for the 2011 season.

“The underpass is the biggest and most notable change at Ravinia in 107 years,” corrected Ravinia president and CEO Welz Kauffman on Friday.
