"Does Your Insurance Agent Really Know or Care About You?"
How often does your insurance agent come out to see you at your home, or was the last time you saw them is when your policy was written?  If you can't even remember when, then they do not have your best interest at heart.  Most insurance agents send out a yearly letter-questionnaire for you to fill out and sign and mail back to them to make any changes on a policy.  How many people actually take the time to do this?  If this is the case then agents are being selfish by collecting a commission on your renewal without seeing if you need any changes to your policy such as any updates on your home that you may have done.  If an update is done to the home such as a remodeled kitchen, bathroom or basement it must be properly recorded in the insurance policy or you will not have full complete coverage on it.  Just like you visit your medical doctor once a year for a physical to be pro-active on your health care, your insurance agent should be pro-active reaching out to you every year to do a check up on your insurance coverage.  I have never heard of a doctor that can examine a patient, make a diagnosis and prescribe a prescription by mail or over the phone without examining their patient in person.  Can you imagine if everything in all of our lives remained the same we would still be paying $1.50 per gallon for gasoline, taxes would be a lot lower, the economy would be solid, and everyone would still be using type writer rather than computers.  We all need to keep in mind that even thou home values have dropped across the nation to record lows, the replacement cost for new construction at todays prices to rebuild that same exact home if it were to burn down to the ground from a fire would cost a lot more at todays current building/city code in most cases than what you paid for the home.  When was the last time you had your jewelry appraised, 3 or 5 years ago?  As everyone is well aware precious metals like gold is over $1,300 an ounce, it is very important to make sure you have the proper amount of coverage for your jewelry based on todays market values.  This is why your insurance agent should be visiting with you every year.
